About
We Are Strangely Optimistic.
Because if life is absurd, we might as well laugh about it with precise data.
Our Philosophy
"To philosophize is to learn how to die."
— Montaigne, Essays, Book I, Chapter 20, 1580. (We, mostly, learned to count.)
Death in Numbers was born from a simple conviction: while death is a singular tragedy for those living it or facing it directly, it becomes a fascinating riddle once you step back. World wars, forgotten pandemics, electric scooter accidents—every death carries an intimate story, but also a number, kinetics, a context.
We are not pessimists. We are storytellers with a keen sense of layout.
The Characters
The Curator
Founder
He founded the museum. Morta gives the tours, Yorick keeps the ledger. His coffee, he drinks it from an old formalin jar, rinsed long ago. Curator to the very end.
Yorick
Ledger Keeper
"Every death has a number. I know them all."
The most famous skull since Hamlet. He notes, he cross-checks, he never gets emotional. The clock on his forehead does not run slow.
Morta
Museum Guide
"Follow the guide. Everyone ends up here eventually."
She knows every gallery and every tragedy, from the Black Death to the electric scooter. She leads the tour with a smile you would rather not understand.
Dean Norisk
DEATH&N 500 Host
"Death is the only safe haven asset that has never seen a bear market."
A trading floor veteran, he prices human mortality live every morning. His sponsors are fictional. His numbers are not.
